Archery

***UNDER CONSTRUCTION - this page currently contains outdated information as of October 2025*****

  • Archery is a life-long sport that is consistent with the mission of our organization.
  • Participants learn attributes that not only promote individual skills, but collaborative skills that are essential to becoming an effective member of a team.
  • All students in grades 3-6 participate in an introductory archery program as part of their physical education class.
  • CVYAA offers an after school archery club that shoots on Sundays, at the Choconut Valley Elementary School.
  • Our equipment includes 15 regular genesis bows, 4 mini genesis bows, 10 dozen arrows, floor quivers, 4 bow racks, (2) 30’ arrow safety curtain, repair kit, fletching jigs, bow press, replacement strings and cables, travel bow cases.
  • Our program is financially supported by a “Shoot-4-A-Cure” archery tournament to raise funds that support our program. 50% of the profits go to Cancer Research. To date, those donations total nearly $6,000.
  • This year’s sponsors and donors for our tournament include
  • Silver Lake Rod and Gun Club
  • Dunkin Donuts
  • Wilson Moore branch of the NWTF
  • Susquehanna County QDMA
  • Pump and Pantry
  • Lancaster Archery
  • 60X Custom Strings
  • Since 2009 we have participated in the State Archery Tournament first held in Harrisburg, but most recently held at Penn State University.

Accomplishments

  • 86 medal winners at the State Tournament.
  • 22 Individual State Champions.
  • 6 Team Championships, 9 runner ups.
  • However, our most significant accomplishment has been the programs ability to introduce so many children to the great sport of Archery. This fact is substantiated when you consider that 43% of our eligible students participate in our program.
